I started Graticle Design in 2009 out of beautiful Ridgefield, Washington. I had just graduated from California State University, Fresno and had a goal of starting a business so I could work for myself. I had built websites and designed flyers throughout high school and college. During college I had my first paying client (a previous employer and friend) and realized that I could actually get paid for this passion of mine.
After graduating college, my first order of business was to email everyone I knew, from past employers, to family, to friends. After a few months of this, I was now in business full-time creating websites and designing.
During the first year, I learned about the amount of “web design companies” in existence. I had many clients that came to me simply to start a project over because their current “web design company” had either stopped answering their phone calls, or were extremely difficult to work with (among other complaints). This brought about my second order of business: do not make the mistakes these “companies” were making, instead, take my business seriously, work my tail off, and provide the absolute best service to my clients.
And it worked.
The next thing I knew, I had more clients. The best part: my clients businesses were growing, they were going out of their way to compliment my work and communication and they were also referring my services to others that were in need.
That brings us to today.
I’m currently working on extremely fun and exciting projects and still love what I do today. I’ve learned a lot and have some of the best clients. I’ve met a lot of people in the web industry and have a handful of friends now that help me with various projects in areas where they shine while I choose to design.
I’m currently living in the beautiful northwest (Longview, Washington) with my wonderful wife, my son, and our two cats.
Let me start by saying if you choose Graticle Design for your website needs, you’ve made the right choice!
Four months ago, I started a new online business. I hired a company that I had found online, to design and build my new business website. Let’s just say, it has been a complete nightmare the past few months trying to get the work done that I needed on my site. I would email them when I needed something and sometimes get no response for days. Not to mention, the amount of time it took for them to get the work done and the high cost of their services. This situation had me extremely stressed out. I must add that I am not computer savvy. Therefore, I depended on this company for all of my website needs. Finally, after months of anxiety, frustration and utter disgust, I decided to search the web for a new website design company. I searched and interviewed many. However, I felt the most comfortable with Graticle Design. When I spoke with Shawn Hooghkirk, I felt a sense of trust and ease after our very first phone interview. Shawn actually took the time to listen and understand my concerns, expectations and everything I wanted for my website. After our first interview, I hired Graticle Design. This was the best decision for my business website and for myself as well. They are fast, efficient, reasonably priced and might I add, very skilled. I am beyond impressed with their service and I couldn’t be happier! I no longer have to stress and worry. I know that I can count on this company for all of my website needs. Most importantly, they do an incredible job!
Shawn is absolutely professional and extremely talented. His talent and ability to understand the objective – even with all direction done through email – has exceeded all our expectations. He is works quickly and efficiently and has great communication skills.
Shawn has helped us create the face of our company, quite literally, and I can’t imagine going to anyone else.
We started Graticle Design in 2009 in Ridgefield, Washington. Not the ideal time to start a business (with a recession in full) but we've figured out how to stay ahead of the curve and work harder and better than the other guys. We started out with one thing in mind: Clients. We realized that a project is what you're after but that's not all. Our clients not only love what we create, but also receive great care and appreciation throughout and after their project is completed.
