Do you have a website that’s targeting different segments of the world?
Do your customers vary in location and language across the globe?
Depending on the areas you are targeting, more than likely, your website will need to change to match the local environment.
For example, your website in Germany may need the ability to provide both an English and German version of your website. You may need multiple websites to better serve your customers.
This is the case with one of our long-time customers, Dexter Magnetics.
We created an additional WordPress website dedicated to their European market. In this market, a large portion of their customers speak German. Instead of using something generic like Google Translate, they needed a 100% accurate German translation. Not only because it reads more naturally, but because a lot of their content is technical and translators won’t do the best job in this scenario. Have you ever read a translation from another language into English? It’s usually pretty obvious as adverbs and pronouns are mixed around- making it difficult to read.
The Dexter Magnetics team had their local German employees translate their website. We them developed an option to allow customers to switch between German and English translations.
For the team at Dexter, they are able to manage their translations in WordPress easily. They simply navigate to the page they want to edit, find the content and switch between English and German for that specific module. They edit the content, click save, and that’s it.
Since Dexter Magnetics has two websites (1) targeting North America (2) targeting Europe, there is also a feature to navigate between each one (by the way, we developed both websites).
Better yet, we wanted to make this easy on customers. They shouldn’t have to do this themselves. Remember splash pages that were common years ago (select your location, before moving forward)? We did not want that. It puts a barrier between your customers and your content.
When you visit one of Dexter Magnetics websites, and your IP address originates from North America, you will be taken to the North American website automatically. If your IP address originates outside of North America, you will be taken to the European website. If you change your mind, you can also switch between each website using the selector in the header at any time.
This is only the beginning of the types of capabilities we have and provide to our customers. We don’t have a one-size-fits-all mentality. Every one of our customers needs are different, and we adapt to provide the most value to them and their customers. When you work with us, we treat your business as if it were our own.
