Responsive design, responsive web design, responsive website design… they all mean the same thing!

It’s very easy to become confused by what responsive web design actually is. It can easily be thought of as just making a website that resizes nicely on different screen sizes. However, there’s so much more to it than that!

It can be a challenge to come up with a responsive design for a website. It’s important to keep the user’s experience in mind when you think about responsive web design. If it takes too long for your website to load, users could quickly get fed up and jump ship!

In order to make responsive web design work well, you need to remember that design responsive to the user’s behavior. This means moving away from thinking about responsive web design just being about what happens on different screen sizes.

This post will help you learn more about responsive website design and how it is important for both your users (mobile or otherwise) and your business!

Read on to learn more about responsive web design.

The importance of responsive design

There’s a discrepancy between different screen sizes. How does responsive web design help?

It used to be that people had one computer at home and maybe another one at work; they’d connect using dial-up whenever they needed to get online. Nowadays, we’ve got all of this technology in our pockets! We carry responsive web design around with us. Almost everyone has a smartphone in their pocket.

Responsive web design: what is responsive website design?

The word responsive is used to describe responsive web design because it faultlessly responds to its environment and user. Responsive website design is an approach that aims to provide an optimal viewing experience, easy navigation and hassle-free content interactions regardless of device. It causes the website layout to resize according to the screen size being used to view it on.

A responsive web design usually involves a flexible grid system allowing for different resolutions without having to adjust the entire layout of the responsive web design.

A useful analogy for responsive website design would be that it’s like a responsive web design changing clothes depending on the weather. It does so with minimal disruption or difficulty to the responsive website design itself or its users.

It is now widely understood that responsive web design is an important aspect of user experience design, as it creates a responsive web design that can be accessed via all devices regardless of screen size, rather than creating separate responsive websites for different devices.

If responsive web design isn’t implemented then the responsive website design will have to be made separately for each different device, which can lead to a lot of extra responsive web design work and doesn’t offer the best user experience.

Responsiveness is important in responsive website design

There are some other factors that responsive web design should take into consideration when designing their responsive websites. These factors are all about being responsive to your users or potential customers! For example, you want to make sure people are able to find what they’re looking for on the responsive website designs so it doesn’t give them a frustrating experience at any point!

It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that if users (especially new ones) are having difficulty using responsive website design, they might go somewhere else. This is why responsive web design should always be responsive to people’s needs!

These are just some of the ways that responsive website design helps both users and businesses. If you’re unsure about responsive web design, hopefully this post has helped! If you need any more information on responsive website design, please get ahold of us (360) 450-3711.

My Husband and I set out to create a clean, user-friendly site. Shawn did just that. He was such a delight to work with. He responded quickly, is patient with my lack of computer knowledge, and had a great eye for design. I would recommend him to all my friends and anyone looking web work done.

I highly recommend Shawn and Graticle Design!!! I reached out to Shawn after I read a review of Graticle that basically stated what I will reiterate here – Shawn actually delivers! If you have grown weary of trying to find a knowledgeable web designer who listens to your needs, and follows through on promises to build according to your vision, look no further! I searched the internet to find web design help, and only seemed to find disappointment. The first designer I contacted charged me $100 for an hour-long chat, and then fell completely out of communication. The second designer I spoke with was always too busy to get started on my project. Then, I went through a string of references from well-meaning friends, you know, the “I have a coworker whose nephew knows how to build websites” sorts.

Shawn listens patiently to understand what you want, and he is conscientious about keeping in communication. His rates are very reasonable, especially when one understands that Graticle operates in a highly dependable manner (hint: do your research, and set a budget so that you know what you can afford).

I feel extremely fortunate to have found Graticle Design, and will gladly repeat its praises to anyone who will listen.
