In the Summer 2015 issue of Horns & Hooks, a leading hunting and fishing magazine from Aberdeen, Washington, Graticle Design took on the challenge of presenting the engaging story of “School Is In Session.” This article delves into the nostalgic reflections on how the great outdoors served as an unconventional classroom for lessons in life and survival. Graticle Design’s layout captures the article’s spirit by intertwining the natural world with the concept of education, merging the thrill of the wilderness with the learning it imparts. The imagery of dense flora encapsulates the theme of growth—both botanical and personal. The visual design mirrors the text’s raw, organic narrative, using natural hues and bold typography to draw readers into a story that celebrates the educational aspects of nature’s vast, open spaces. This design not only complements the story’s essence but enhances the reader’s journey through the memories of days when life’s curriculum was dictated by the changing seasons and the call of the wild.
