Print Design
For the Summer 2015 issue of Horns & Hooks, a premier hunting and fishing magazine hailing from Aberdeen, Washington, Graticle Design was entrusted with a comprehensive design assignment. This issue was not just a compilation of tales and tips for the avid outdoorsman but a canvas where each story was brought to life through meticulous design, echoing the primal essence of the hunt and the serene patience of the fisherman.
Among the standout articles in this edition is “Through the Eyes of the Caller,” a riveting narrative that plunges the reader into the heart of the wild. Graticle Design crafted a visual journey as intense and focused as the hunter’s own gaze. The layout blends the raw vigor of the natural world with the precision of the written word. Evocative imagery captures the sudden snap of branches underfoot, the rush of adrenaline, and the tense moments leading up to the encounter, while the typography weaves these elements into a cohesive, immersive experience. Each design choice, from the earthen palette to the deliberate juxtaposition of text and image, was made to ensnare the senses, much like the hunter’s call in the silent woods. The result is an article that is not merely read but felt—a true testament to the artistry and attention to detail that Graticle Design brings to every project.
