Last week, someone told me about their new website that was created by another web design company.
They mentioned that the process was relatively painless, but the end result wasn’t quite what they expected. They thought since the website was being built on WordPress, that it was going to be easy to change the text and images on their brand new website. After all, isn’t that what a Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress is supposed to do?
The answer is yes. It’s supposed to be easy to change text and images on a WordPress website, but that isn’t always the case. A lot of web design companies make this claim, but as you’ll see in a moment, that’s not always the case.
Bad Example
When your brand new website is complete and ready for you to edit content, how thrilled would you be if you saw this looking back at you?
Not only is it difficult to understand for a non-programmer, but you’re bound to break your website the first time you update it.
Good Example
Isn’t that easier?
No complicated code, simple text.
That’s how we develop all of our custom WordPress websites.
If I could offer one word of advice when looking for a WordPress website designer:
Ask for screenshots of WordPress websites that they’ve developed, specifically the editor as I’ve shown you here.
